select - file like io data structure in python that does not use files at all -

i looking file io data structure in python not use files @ all. memory file. tried cstringio, quite looking limitation not usable via select. sound, there data structure fulfills both requirements in way? think select nice , comfortable way check fds updates.

although creating files on file system, spooledtemporaryfiles solved issue.
